If you will travel to Bristol from another UK city then buses can be much cheaper than trains (albeit slower). The bus station is in central Bristol, a few minutes walk from the university.

National Express https://www.nationalexpress.com/en and Megabus https://uk.megabus.com/ Are the two major providers. They both offer routes between Bristol and the London airports, if you need to connect to a flight.
